Vancouver Foundation

Role: Digital & content Strategist
Agency: Cause+Affect

Reflecting on my enriching journey as a digital media and content strategy consultant with Vancouver Foundation over the past five years, numerous projects and funds stand out, each contributing to a narrative of meaningful impact.

When the COVID-19 pandemic struck, Vancouver Foundation swiftly mobilized the Community Response Fund, raising over $6 million to bolster the efforts of vital organizations. My role involved highlighting the recipients, crafting engagement tactics, and increasing awareness and donations for the fund. The "In Our Hearts" campaign emerged, inspired by the collective spirit of British Columbians facing the pandemic. This initiative not only raised awareness of the increased demand for charitable support during the crisis but also supported the Community Response Fund and the Emergency Community Support Fund.

Utilizing digital media, partnerships, and content strategies, I encouraged individuals to share stories of people, charities, or organizations close to their hearts. The campaign celebrated the extraordinary care and unity demonstrated during the challenging times of COVID-19, creating a space for the community to come together and make a difference.

Another impactful project was the LEVEL VF program, a youth engagement initiative addressing racial inequity by investing in the leadership capacity of Indigenous, racialized immigrant, and refugee youth. Through authentic conversations and storytelling, the program aimed to provide a voice to vulnerable groups and empower youths to influence decisions affecting their lives. My involvement in LEVEL included content creation to showcase behind-the-scenes activities and stories of the cohorts, contributing to a narrative of empowerment and change.

The Neighbourhood Small Grants project was equally uplifting, involving the communication of inspiring community projects across BC. Developing strategies to amplify these stories on digital and social media platforms, I connected with numerous community-driven individuals, fostering a sense of belonging to something special. Neighbourhood Small Grants provided grants of up to $500 for projects fostering social connections or skills sharing while adhering to physical distancing guidelines. It also integrated with On the Table BC, blending initiatives and increasing the reach of each NSG project.

Working with Vancouver Foundation has been a privilege, and I eagerly look forward to building upon this body of work in 2024. Each project has not only contributed to the foundation's mission but has also been a source of personal and professional fulfillment. Together, we continue to weave a tapestry of impact, connection, and positive change.
